Farewell to Argus legend, best and fairest winner 2000 - 08, Andrew Shrosbree

Andrew ShrosbreeIt is with some sorrow that Andrew’s colleagues and friends said farewell to him on 24th September at drinks and dinner where we shared some experiences, funny times and some now famous ‘Andrewisms’.

After working for almost 7 years on Argus where he has guided the development of the product from conception to its current position of Australia-wide recognition, Andrew is now moving on to expand his horizons.

In addition, Andrew has set down the groundwork for the new generation Argus; its move to new technologies, NeHTA-compliant Standards and greater user functionality and benefits. “In many ways”, Andrew said, “my work is done. It’s the right time to move on.”

Andrew has been a part of Argus for its entire time and he is recognised as being a significant contributor to the agenda of interconnecting healthcare in Australian eHealth. Some people agreed with him, some disagreed, some liked his approach, some didn’t. Everybody recognised his commitment, honesty and integrity. We at ArgusConnect already feel a sense of loss.

Here are some snippets of Andrew’s gems from his farewell speech:

About Phillip Cameron, Technical Team Leader: “If I were in Apollo 13 floating in that capsule, I would want to know it was Phillip who was working on a way to get me down.”

About Paul McMahon, Programmer: “The story of Kakoda is something I have learned since coming to Australia. If I was in the jungle, sick, hungry and outnumbered with the Japanese shooting at me with nothing more than the men around me to get me home, I would want somebody like Paul at my side.”
