The first live sites for the ETP project in Darwin went live just before Christmas after an impressive effort from the project team to define, design, develop and test the process over just a 3 month period. Argus is the message transport mechanism.

This first phase of the ambitious ETP component of the NT HealthConnect initiative has implemented the transfer of digitally signed prescriptions produced within the GPs surgery in MD2 and sent directly to the contracted pharmacy serving the Terrace Gardens Nursing Home in Darwin.

At the same time as the prescription being sent, a Medication Chart is produced by the doctor within MD2 and sent digitally signed to the Nursing Home, for the nurse to check and then on-forward to the pharmacy so that they can use this to make up the blister packs.

This phase of the project is designed to deliver real efficiency benefits to the participants - GP, nursing home and pharmacy - and also provide a vehicle for testing the workflow and regulatory issues associated with e-prescribing on a broader scale.
