Without doubt the Northern Territory has set the benchmark as the largest and most successful HealthConnect trial to date in Australia. First staged in the Katherine region 3 years ago and now rolling out over the rest of NT, the Shared Electronic Health Records (SEHR) project uses Argus as the transfer mechanism for collecting and sharing consumer health information over this vast area.

Another hugely successful HealthConnect trial has been undertaken in the Townsville region, using Argus to transfer up-to-date rural patient information to Townsville Hospital prior to admissions, as well as notify GPs or local hospitals with discharge information.

A Point-to-Point (P2P) service has been implemented in the Top End of NT to enable healthcare practitioners disadvantaged by distance to securely communicate patient information such as emergency discharge summaries, referrals in, outpatient reports and so on. The initial area serviced covers Darwin and Katherine regions representing a population of about 126,000 people. The transfer mechanism? Argus, of course!

BALLARAT GPS AND SPECIALISTS USING ARGUS
Julian Laffey from the Ballarat & District Division of General Practice and Genevieve Martin from St John of God Hospital have been getting local GPs and specialists onto Argus. Currently about 30% of GPs in the region are receiving Argus messages from a handful of specialists. Julian aims to have all GPs and specialists communicating with Argus by the end of 2007.
BENDIGO REGION MOVES AHEAD WITH ARGUS
Bruce Farnell, the IT Officer at the Division in Bendigo has been quietly beavering away and says he now has over 85% of GPs in the region with Argus installed, as well as a handful of specialists, the public pathology service and a private radiology clinic that can all now send reports to these GPs using Argus. He has a very neat Web-based Service/Provider directory up and running and has Argus using this through an LDAP interface.
COFFS HARBOUR DECIDES ON ARGUS
In April 2006 Paul Templeton, the IT Officer at Mid North Coast Division (NSW) confirmed that the Division would be conducting an Argus deployment initiative throughout their region Stage I is now underway with 8 sites installed and using Argus, and many more on the waiting list ...
